Match Preview

Cardiff v Pontypridd

Cardiff entertain Pontypridd in the first of three games between the two clubs this season.

With the new league structure in place Ponty travel to the Arms Park before two games later in the season at Sardis Rd in the East Conference of the Principality Premiership.

With two losses in two weeks the Blue & Blacks will be looking to get back to winning ways. Following the game at Bedwas there are only two changes to the side for the Bridge Field encounter.

Both of those are in the backline. Will Rees-Hole returns to the centre with Lewis Jones starting at scrum half.

Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve law said "following a very competitive show at Bedwas last week we are looking forward to this derby, and my first taste of Cardiff – Pontypridd as a coach. The squad will be looking to build on the endeavour of last weekend and hopefully both sides will be able to give the spectators something of a spectacle with both sides looking to play."

"There is a bit of bitter sweet news though for the Blue & Blacks, James Sheekey will be leaving Cardiff RFC to join the Dragons on a full time contract, something that in the past few weeks, having worked with him, I can see that he fully deserves.

Even though for the Blue & Blacks it will be a big loss, especially with the injury to Dan Crimmins, but James has our full blessing and we know he will make a success of his future and we wish him every success."
