Match Preview

Cardiff - Newport

One of the oldest rivalries in rugby adds to its long history tomorrow evening (Friday 27th – 7:15pm) when the Blue & Black of Cardiff take on the Black and Amber of Newport at the Arms Park.

This will be the second meeting of the two teams in the East League this season, Cardiff having gained a bonus point win last time at Rodney Parade. The Cardiff team shows several new faces from the line-up that day.

In the pack Cardiff welcome back Dan Crimmins to his home town colours as he returns from an injury that has kept him out since re-signing at the beginning of the season. And there is another new signing on the bench where Tom Daley prepares to make his Blue & Black bow following his recent move from Merthyr. There is also a first start for Cardiff RFC for Georgian International Anton Peikrishvili who joins fellow Cardiff Blue Kirby Myhill in the front row.

In the backs there is another new face on the bench in Lewis Reece, the former rugby league player signing on with the Blue & Blacks a few weeks ago. James Beal returns to fitness to start on the wing alongside Ceri Young, Lewis Jones partners Gareth Thompson, who captains the side, at half back.
