Match Report

Cardiff 23 Bedwas 27

Bedwas staged a second half recovery to seal the points at Cardiff Arms Park. The home side had the better of the first few minutes and the first half, Gareth Davies landing a penalty after initial pressure. A minute later came the first try of the game. A break by Richard Smith saw Cardiff into the Bedwas twenty-two. When the ball was recycled Reuben Tucker was on hand to score. Bedwas got on the board with two Richard Powell penalties before Davies landed one of his own for Cardiff.

Thomas Young was proving to be a thorn in the visitors side and it was from one of his breaks the Cardiff scored their second try. Great support work by Macauley Cook continued the move and Shaun Powell was on hand to finish it off. Just before the break Davies added another penalty to give the Blue & Blacks a 23-6 half time lead.

The second half belonged to Bedwas. Powell squeezed in the corner to start the fight back, Sam Feeham went over in the same corner to bring them within a point. But a Cardiff mistake was to lead to the third a decisive score. Turnover ball was moved wide quickly when substitute Ross Warlde was able to outpace the defence to score. Just before the final whistle Powell added another penalty to ease Bedwas nerves, but they held on to win for the second year running at the Arms Park
