Cardiff continued their losing run at the Talbot Athletic Ground on a wet and murky day, going down by 11- 3 to Aberavon. It was the home team that got on the scoreboard first when they were awarded a penalty in the 31st minute. Outside Half Jamie Davies kicking the points. It wasn't long before Cardiff got on the scoreboard with a penalty in the 32nd minute, kicked by Gareth Davies. It was a stop - start first half with a young referee constantly blowing his whistle. First victim to fall was Alwyn Lee who received a yellow card in the 33rd minute, this was shortly followed by a red card for Aberavon Hooker Evan Yardley for apparently tripping a Cardiff player that was not seen by the supporters in the stand as it was off the ball Aberavon brought on Cardiff old boy Ieuan Davies to replace Yardley by taking off Nathan Strong and it seem to revitalize Aberavon who held out until half time with the score at 3-3. Although reduced to 14 men for the second half it was Aberavon who were on top and old boy Ieuan Davies raced away down the wing to score in the corner with the outside half failing with the conversion it was Aberavon 8 Cardiff 3. Although Cardiff had a man advantage it didn't show and Head Coach Martyn Fowler decided to introduce a number of changes, This didn't change a thing on the pitch and Cardiff were on the back foot.Aberavon were given another penalty which was kicked successfully before the referee blew with a full time score of Aberavon 11 - Cardiff 3.
