Ebbw Vale dumped Cardiff out of the cup with a spirited second half performance.
Cardiff had started the game well and Joe Griffin had put the first points on the board after 6 minutes as the visitors failed to roll away at a ruck. Two minutes later and things were even better for the home side. An Ebbw lineout on the five meter line was thrown straight to James Murphy who happily dived over to score for Cardiff.
Ebbw Vale did get on the board when Josh Lewis was on target with his second attempt, but that was cancelled out by Griffin who sent the Blue & Balcks into the changing rooms 11-3 up.
The second half though belonged to the visitors. Lewis landed a penalty to bring them within a score before Polu Uni was put in space. The big winger rounded the last tackler outside the twenty two and raced under the sticks to score, Lewis added the extras. He was on target 3 minutes later to give Ebbw a small cushion.
Cardiff threw everything at the Championship side in the last ten minutes but despite being down to 13 men for the last play Ebbw Vale’s defence held firm to record a famous victory
