Cardiff travelled to Esher for the second pre-season friendly on Saturday and were greeted by similar conditions to those at Fishguard the week before. The kick off was delayed due to the team coach taking a diversion around a low bridge.
The Blue & Blacks again had two XVs in each half and the first half starting XV, captained by Darren Ryan battled hard in the difficult conditions and didn’t have the rub of the green when it came to the whistle. The only try going to Esher half way through the first period. Just before half time the home side added a penalty to give them a 10-0 advantage.
The second half was equally as competitive. The visitors got on the scoreboard when Ceiron Thomas kicked a penalty before Esher scored their second try. Cardiff responded with a try of their own by captain Johnathon Edwards, Thomas again on target with the kick, but it was to be the home sides day with a try in the final few minutes to give them a 24-10 victory.
