Match Report

Cardiff 24 Llanelli 31

LLanelli won an entertaining game at the Arms Park. Llanelli made the better start. As early as the sixth minute they has a kickable penalty. Steve Shingler was wide with that but mad amends two minutes later as he gave the visitors the lead. That was cancelled out straight away as Daffydd Hewitt charged down a clearing kick and dropped on the ball over the line. Dean Gunter missed the extras but added a penalty shortly after to extend the lead. Llanelli though got back in front when a maul was dragged down short and they were awarded a penalty try. Gunter restored the advantage before Shingler gave Llanelli the lead back just before half time.

Shingler extended the lead early in the second half but tow Gunter penalties gave Cardiff a slim advantage as the game entered its final quarter. Dion Jones scored an individual try as Cardiff forgot to tackle. Josh Adams added a third visitors try three minutes later as Llanelli ran the ball at every opportunity. Cardiff went forwards in droves in the final ten minutes and Dean Gunter drew Cardiff back into the game with a show and go to score but a late penalty by Jones gave Llanelli the points that keep them in the playoff hunt.
