29 March 2014 - Cardiff Arms Park, Cardiff

Match Report

Cardiff 7 - Llandovery 44

Llandovery gained a well deserved bonus point win and a double over Cardiff at the Arms Park. The home side dominated the first five minutes but spurned a kickable penalty in favour of a line out only to come away with nothing. The fist points came from a long range penalty from Lee Evans that was followed by the games’ first try, Dorian Williams following up a break by Rhodri Jones to go over from short range. Ian Brooks converted and added a penalty to give the Drovers a 13-0 half time advantage.

Cardiff again made a good start to the second period. Sustained pressure led to Lewis Smout crossing to bring them back into the game. Jack Maynard converted but from then on it was one way traffic. Brooks added a penalty before Mike Evans sailed through the Cardiff defence to score. Richard Catchpole was on the end of the next move, going over in the corner. The bonus point try came when replacement Shaun Miles was allowed to run straight up the middle of the pitch, no one wanted to tackle him and he scored under the posts. Llandovery added two further tries, Jake Baker and Sam Soul scoring to give the scoreboard a nasty look for the home side. Brookes converted four out of the six tries to keep Llandovery in the hunt at the top of the table.
