Cardiff came unstuck against Cross Keys on a glue pot of a pitch at Pandy Park
The first half belonged to the home side as the Blue & Blacks played into a strong breeze. Their first points came after 8 minutes when Ethan Davies landed a simple penalty from in front. And that lead was extended by a former Cardiff player when Paulo Uhi crossed in the corner following a period of sustained pressure, Davies landed the conversion from wide out.
Cardiff came within a whisker of scoring following a series of line outs near the home line, but on each occasion they were thrawrted by the whistle, a pattern that followed throught the game. Just before half time Davies was again on target for the home side as they went to to the dressing room 13-0 ahead.
The second half was a different story. Cardiff came out all guns blazing and were rewarded three minutes in when James Whittingham landed a penalty from in front. Four minutes later it got even better for the Blue & Blacks as a charge down in their own half was gathered by Tom Slater who ran half the length of the field to score. Whittigham added the extras and was to bring the two sides level shortly after with a long range penalty.
The game was there for the taking but when at a scrum five metres out the visitors were penalised it seemed as if it wasn't going to be Cardiff's day. And it was a former Blue & Black who game the home side the win as Leon Andrews Crossed to give the Keys a 18-13 win
