Match Report

Rosllyn Park 47 Cardiff 23

Cardiff kicked off at Priory Lane with the temperature approaching 30 degrees. Fly half Geraint Llewellyn opened the scoring with a well struck penalty in the third minute. The home team responded quickly , their strong set piece putting  Cardiff under increasing pressure. This pressure was rewarded with three well worked tries in a ten minute period. Cardiff's best moment occurred mid way through the half when scrum half Chris Williams exploited space on the short side and his well timed pass released debutant Terry Gee on the right wing. The young Wales under 18 wing raced along the touchline before swerving inside the full back and touching down for a try without a hand being laid on him. Geraint Llewellyn converted . Five minutes before the interval Rosslyn Park scored their fourth try following a lineout drive. This made the half time score 26-13.

Both teams made numerous changes at half time, giving squad members opportunities to press their claims for selection before the competitive fixtures begin next month. Replacement fly half Callum Hall kicked Cardiff's first points of the second half with a sweetly struck penalty in the fifty first minute. Rosslyn Park scored the next three tries, two again the result of their strong driving lineout. There was to be some consolation for the young Cardiff side before the end when debutant replacement wing Luke Thomas ran strongly to score in the corner following a line break by centre Will Rees-Hole.Callum Hall duly converted to make the final score 47-23
