Carmarthen Quins became the second side in two weeks to earn a bonus point win at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
The first twenty minutes of the game were spent by both sides trying to gain territorial advantage without many scoring opportunities. The Blue & Blacks were first to register points when the Quins were penalised for off side, James Whittingham landed the kick. Quins scored the first try of the game a few minutes later, scrum half Kieran Hardy crossed for a try that Steve Shingler converted. The outside half was on target a few minutes later when a chip through was grounded by Gareth Thomas. Cardiff came straight back and scored after a chip through of their own. Whittigham the provider, Ceri Young with the touchdown. Whittingham landed the conversion of a half time 10-16 score line in favour of the visitors.
The second half though belonged to the Quins. Straight from the kick off they scored their third try when Josh Helps dived over from close range. And the bonus point try was secured when centre Iolo Evans pounced on a Cardiff mistake. Callum Price added both conversions and made things same for the visitors when he put them three scores clear with a penalty. Cardiff responded with a well worked try after a break by Owen Lane. James Loxton linked with him before providing a scoring pass for Morgan Sieniawski. Whittingham was again on target with the conversion but the Quins had the last say as Ian Jones crossed for their faith and the game’s final try.
