Cardiff came up just short on points difference in their Pool A ties in the Abercynon 7s to miss out on the Cup Final.
The tournament was reduced to six sides due to several last minute drop outs – including Pontypridd- and the Blue & Blacks were pitted ina pool with Rhydyfelin and Heol-Y_Cyw.
The first round saw them draw with Rhydyfelin 17-17, Will Jones scoring twice. In the second game Cardiff came through against Heol-Cyw 26-20, Will Jones again scoring twice along side Dan Partridge and Lewis Reece.
That meant Cardiff were into the Plate Final where they played the hosts. Cardiff were just too strong for Abercynon winning comfortably by 38 points to 22. Luke Probert, Dan Partridge, Gareth Thomson, Adam Williams, Jack Phillips and Jones scoring in that final play off.
The invitation Army side squeezed past Rhydyfelin to take the Cup Final, but Cardiff’s Will Jones was named as man of the tournament for his 5 tries.
