Squad Update

With a two-week enforced break for the Blue & Blacks we took time out to speak to Head Coach Steve Law on how the squad was getting on.

We started by asking him how Joey Tomlinson was following his injury against Pontypridd. “It isn’t good news” he told us “Joey will be out for the rest of the season following the injury to his knee. For us to lose our club captain who is such a strong player for us is a huge blow. Having spoken to Joey he is devastated. He will be a huge loss and we will miss him, but we hope his recovery is a good one and we look forward to seeing him again in Blue & Black as soon as possible”

“We also want to wish Ken Dowden all the best in whatever he decides to do next. Ken has left the squad this week, but we have drafted in Peter Lloyd from the Wanderers to help our front row situation. Peter did a great job when he came on last week against Ponty and we look forward to more of the same next time out”

“We have also added strength to our back row following James Sheekey’s move to the Dragons last week. Thomas Daley has signed from Merthyr. Tom can cover the entire back row and also second row if required. He will be a great addition to the squad”

“We are looking forward to next week’s challenge against Newport, it will be good to be out on the field again in a competitive match. It will also give us an opportunity to get back to winning ways”

That game against Newport kicks off at 7:15 next Friday 27th October at the Arms Park.
