James Bridie was a Scottish born rugby union scrum half who played club rugby for Cardiff and Newport RFC He played International rugby for Wales and county rugby for Monmouthshire. Born in Greenock in 1857 and later moving to Wales.

His only Welsh cap came against Ireland in a friendly match in 1882 before the Home Nations Championship was introduced and he scored one of Wales four tries.
