William Edward Norman Davis was born in Aston, Birmingham in September 1913 but educated at Cardiff High School- later playing for their Old Boys team.

He was known to everyone as Wendy and joined Cardiff in 1934 and soon established himself as a first team player. In 1938/9 he was vice captain to Wilf Wooller and in the same season he gained 3 caps for Wales. During WW2 he played another 5 times for Wales in the Red Cross and Wartime Internationals and represented the British Army. Wendy also played 5 games for the Barbarians and occasionally appeared for Penarth RFC.

He died in Cirencester, Gloucestershire in 2002 aged 89.
