William Henry 'Billy' Raybould was Cardiff born and bred. Whilst at Cathays High School he represented Wales at U15 & U18 levels, making his debut for Cardiff Athletic in September 1963 against Cardiff HSOB.
He won his club cap in his second season at the club.
Three years later he was on his way to South Africa as a fully fledged Lion. He had packed a lot of rugby into the intervening period: A Blue at Cambridge, the first of his eleven caps for Wales (at centre) and a couple of seasons at London Welsh.
Billy was selected for the1968 British Isles tour to South Africa, and played in seven of the 16 provincial games. He played 12 matches for Cardiff's first XV from 1964/65 -1966/67,scoring three tries. He went on to play for Newport.
