Mel Rosser born 1901 in Machen, began his rugby career with his local club Machen RFC, before moving to Cardiff RFC for which he played two seasons, scoring four tries.

During 1923/24 season Rosser switched to Penarth RFC and it was whilst he was at Penarth that he gained his first international cap for Wales. He only gained one other cap in that same year.

During his rugby career he represented Glamorgan County and as a serving Policeman represented the Glamorgan Police

At the start of 1924/25 season, Rosser turned to rugby league and joined Leeds. At the same time he left the police force and became a licensee. He played his first game for Leeds in September 1924 and was selected for Wales RL in 1926 and when on to gain 5 rugby league caps.

In 1930 he left Leeds to join York FC . He passed away in York September 1988 aged 87.
