Dai, also known as 'Bish', is a former dual-code international rugby union and rugby league player. He made his first class debut for Pontypool in 1981 and also played one game for Cardiff in the same season.

Bishop gained one Welsh cap against Australia in 1984. In the 1988 season he was lured to rugby league and signed for Hull KR and subsequently played for Salford and London Crusaders.

Bishop returned to Pontypool in 1995 as their player/coach.
