William Barron Norton born in Carmarthen 1862. A Welsh rugby union international three-quarter who played club rugby for Cardiff

He played 49 games for Cardiff RFC between 1879/80 and 1885/86, scoring 20 tries, gained 6 caps for Wales making his debut against Ireland in 1882.
In August, 1898, he was appointed one of the Engineers to the Niger State Protectorate. There he unfortunately contracted pneumonia, which proved fatal on the 11th December, 1898 - he passed away in Old Calabar, Niger (aged 36)
