William 'Bunner' Travers was born in Newport 4th son of 8 in 1913. He played for Pill Harriers at the age of 15,Newport and Cardiff.

Played three games for Cardiff, one in 1937/38 and two in 1947/48 and also played for the Army and Crawshays XV.  He won 12 caps playing for Wales and 2 caps for the British and Irish Lions in South Africa 1938. He was Son of George Travers, also a Welsh International.
