Gabe Servini was born and brought up in Aberdare where he attended Aberdare Boys Grammar School from 1958 - 1965 and played rugby there for all age groups, before attending Bristol University where he played for the University first XV from 1965 - 1968. After graduating, he came to Cardiff where he played a few games for Glamorgan Wanderers before joining Cardiff, where he played from 1969 - 71.
Mainly an Outside Half (but occasionally playing in the Centre) he played a few games for the Extras before they were disbanded but played mostly for the Athletic where he gained his cap in the 1969 - 70 season when he was also the top try scorer with 13 tries.Gabe played only 6 games for the first team, mainly due to someone called Barry John being the first choice Outside Half at the time. After his time at Cardiff he retired from playing rugby due to work commitments.
Since retiring as a player Gabe has been a member of the Former Players Association, taking over as Secretary in February 2015.
