Noel Williams

Noel Williams

Position: Back Row

Noel Williams was born in Abergavenny and played most of his senior rugby for Pontypool. Between 1961 and 1972 he appeared in over 300 games for Pooler and was voted Player of the Year in the 1965 – 6 season. The following season he joined Cardiff and after a couple of Trial games and an Athletic appearance against Cardiff and District Noel was selected to play against West Germany. In only his second game (ironically against Pontypool) he broke his collar bone. A month later and he was back playing (against Ebbw Vale) but was still troubled by the injury and did not play again that season. After just one season at the Arms Park Noel decided to return to his former club.
