Cardiff got back to try scoring ways at Church Bank, scoring six tries to earn a bonus point away victory.

The game started brightly for the Blue & Blacks with Andreas Pretorius chasing his own chip through to put pressure on the home defence, the ball being scrambled into touch by the home defence. From the resulting lineout the visitors drove the ball over the line, Kristian Gay emerging triumphant from the bottom of the pile, Gareth Davies converting.

Within a couple of minutes the Blue & Blacks had scored again. Pretorius again heavily involved, picking up a loose ball he sprinted into the Drovers half, linked up with Gavin Evans who drew the last defender a slipped the ball to the supporting Pretorius for try number two.

The home team didn’t have any answers to the power coming though the visitors pack, or the speed of the backs. It was no surprise when try number came along. The Drovers tried to run the ball from their own half only for centre Dan Rogers to throw an intercept pass to Craig Morgan who ran in un-opposed. Davies converting.

A fourth try looked on the cards before half time when another catch and drive ended just short, the resulting penalty by Davies though added three points to the Cardiff tally. The home side did get on the scoreboard shortly before half time when wing Matthew Jones scored an unconverted try, but it was the visitors who went into the changing rooms happier being 25-5 up.

The Drovers started the second half brightly, but scrappy handling meant the ball rarely reach the Cardiff twenty-two. Davies added to the Blue & Blacks lead with a long range penalty, before the bonus point try arrived. Owen Williams, who had come on as a replacement, was put in the clear down the wing and it was his deft pass out of the tackle that allowed Darren Ryan to cross.

Try number five was the pick of the bunch. Cardiff worked the ball through the hands one way to Chris Czekaj. The ball was re-cycled and worked back the other way where the impressive Pretorius fed Williams who again slipped the ball out of the tackle for Davies to score.

The Blue & Blacks defence, which had been hard working all game, were collectively responsible for the final try. Forcing a turnover in the Llandovery twenty-two the ball was worked to Czekaj who sprinted in under the posts from short range. Davies added the extras as the final whistle blew.

Six tries and a bonus point win is not something that sides often come away with from Church Bank, but the Blue & Blacks on this performance were deserved winners.
